Job Summary:
The EADS Group, Inc., which began operation in 1955 is actively seeking an Assistant Survey Department Manager to be part of our multi-discipline consulting engineering and architecture firm. We are accepting applications for an experienced full-time Assistant Survey Department Manager to work at our office location in Somerset, Pennsylvania.
The position will support our current Survey Department Manager in directing, managing, and completing workload that includes most aspects of land and topographic surveying, boundary retracements, construction stakeout, as-builts, and ALTA/NSPS Land Title with an emphasis on natural gas industry related surveying tasks such as pipeline and compressor station surveying.
It is desired that the successful candidate will be capable of transitioning into the position of Survey Department Manager upon successful completion of training and exemplary performance.
The ideal candidate shall have demonstrated leadership skills and a minimum of 10 years’ experience with surveying projects and proficiency in the use of surveying equipment and software including, but not limited to, Total Stations, GPS Units, Robotics, Scanners and Data Collectors. Candidate must have excellent organizational, communication and presentation skills.
Desired qualifications include experience with AutoDesk Civil 3D, proposal preparation, and project/ client management. The desired candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in surveying or a related field. Although not a prerequisite, licensure as a Professional Surveyor in Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia and/or Ohio (or the ability to obtain) is also desired.
The following is a partial list of duties which the Assistant Survey Department Manager will be expected to assist the Department Manager complete:
• Coordinate and schedule survey crews.
• Inventory, maintain, clean, and calibrate survey equipment.
• Monitor, procure and distribute supplies to survey crews.
• Work with maintenance personnel to assign, maintain and equip survey vehicles.
• Direct and assist crews and CAD Technicians download and process survey data and prepare survey deliverables using AutoCAD.
• Serve as primary and/or fill-in Party Chief, Instrument Operator and/or Survey Helper as necessary to complete local, as well as multi-day out-of-town survey projects including travel and overnight stays.
• Review, approve and process daily and weekly time and expense sheets submitted by survey staff.
• Complete deed research, plot deeds and prepare base-maps.
• Prepare, coordinate and conduct safety training sessions and monitor the activities of field crews to ensure safety compliance.
• Update and implement Quality Management System policies and procedures.
• Prepare client proposals including fee estimates and scopes of work, agreements, invoices and other administrative documentation.
• Maintain client relations and develop new survey work.
• Onboard and train new survey staff and evaluate staff for Veriforce compliance.
